- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add the egg and vanilla, and mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just blended.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter and place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
- Let cool on wire racks.
- In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and almond extract to make frosting.
- Spread frosting on half of the cookies and sandwich with the remaining cookies.
